Sonalysts.com Download FAQ ===================================== There are a few issues that have been reported while downloading patches from our website. 1) Nothing happens after I click "Start Download" ************************************************** This could be a couple of things. The most common issues have been in the following groups a) The browser's Security settings are too restrictive b) A download manager is misinterpreting our web form c) There is a firewall that is restricting the flow of data To check (a) ============ In IE, click "Tools" then "Internet Options..." Select the "Security" tab at the top Make sure the "Internet" is selected. then click "Custom Level" In the security settings dialog under "Miscellaneous" there is an item called: "Submit nonencrypted form data" In order for downloads from Sonalysts to work, that option cannot be "Disable" If it is, I suggest selecting "Prompt". then you will need to answer "Yes" to the "Warning dialog about setting security settings for this zone" You can always put that setting back to "Disable" after you download the desired file. Then click "OK" in the "Security Settings" dialog and "OK" again on the "Internet Options" dialog. For (b): ========= Find out if there is some external "Download Manager" application running and disable it. Examples of Download Managers are: Download Accelerator (DAP), FlashGet, GetRight, Microsoft Download Manager, Netscape Download Manager We are not sure why there is a problem downloading our patches with download managers applications. We only suggest disabling these applications temporarily while downloading our patches until this issue can be resolved. 2) The filename to be saved has ".pl" at the end. when the Save File As dialog appears the filename may have ".pl" after the actual filename, such as "subcommand_v108.exe.pl" Just remove the ".pl" from the name like so: subcommand_v108.exe and click "Ok" For (c): ========= In some cases, a user's firewall may have very restrictive settings which prevent it from recognizing that a request was made by the user and our webserver is attempting to fulfill that request. Windows XP has a built-in firewall that many users are unaware is operating in the background trying to keep them safe online.
